Every room of this renovated North Chatham 1915 Cape bungalow has a water view, either of Chatham Harbor, the new ocean break or a salt pond. The house sits on two secluded acres and has 250 feet of private beach, which is a short wooden walkway away from the living room, deck and screened in porch.
This Cape bungalow has been owned by the same family since 1898, so the plate rack in the living dining area, wooden slats that punctuate every wall, and the pictures and photos evoke warm memories of summers past and the potential fun of vacations yet to come. Comfortably furnished, with air conditioning on the first floor and lower floors. It has many areas for people to congregate and chat or find a quiet space in which to read, the 'Point House' is ideal for extended families or groups of friends. Although the sandy beach is the big draw, in the late afternoons adults naturally gravitate to the screened porch, the cluster of chairs and couches around the wood burning fireplace, the country kitchen, or the deck overlooking the bay. Other, perhaps younger folk, enjoy the airy attic play area or the lower level family room with its TV. The double and queen sized beds are in the bedrooms on the main level, while the finished attic has two twins and a bunk bed.
Activities abound for all age groups. You can swim off the sandy beach, launch a kayak or sunfish, play softball, croquet, or capture the flag games on the expansive lawns, and/or cast for bass off Ministers' Point, a well known Cape fishing venue. The shops of Chatham are a 3 minute drive away and the Cape Cod bike trail and school tennis courts are within a short ride.
Weddings/special events: The Point House, with its broad, flat lawns and water views, is ideal for weddings and special events. A wedding held there was featured in 'Cape Cod Life' in the May 2007 issue. For wedding set up we require that you rent a week and that all wedding and special event activities be held outside and be over by 10:30 p.m. There is the potential to park cars on the property, but weddings can be no larger than 140 people due to parking issues. Weddings dates are May, June, September and October. We book only one wedding per year, so check with us before your make plans.
