Summary: The Pros: the home was safe, it had nice modern updates, was mostly clean inside, and accommodated our family. The homeowner was attentive to my needs and concerns.The Cons: the photos on the vrbo website of the exterior did not match the current state of the house. The house has faded in color, The roof is discolored, there is an abundance of trash and overgrowth throughout the yard, there was even hazardous items left throughout the yard, like tools and glass. The inside of the home was mostly clean, but the bedsheets and bed had stains, and there was no hand towels or dish soap. The homeowner had to procure these items for us upon our arrival. The homeowner added new rules prior to my arrival, including no shoes to be worn inside and requesting approval for guests. He did ultimately approve my guests, but required they remove shoes which was not possible for some of my family. To try and reduce any concerns about scuffing his floors, we ate dinner outside. Unfortunately, because it’s the rainy season it only met. We tracked in more dirt and grass into the house. Adding rules caused more concern and confusion overall and compounded frustration given the other issues with the house.I let the homeowner know in detail these issues so that he can correct them for future guests. However I would like to hear directly from vrbo on these matters.
